These paintings began in the summer of 2007, after relocating to North Devon, UK. I found a renewed excitement about creativity, inspired by moving here.
There is a more direct observational study of environments, with interpretive results. In referencing the landscape / seascape, I am not aiming to produce unnecessarily idealised views of Nature (the pastoral and picturesque).
The environment is so much more powerful, subtler and complex than a picture can convey. I am creating images that are experiential and emotional, and am involved in the nature of painting and materials at the same time.
