Continuing to create paintings evoked by living in the North Devon landscape and by the coast. The work varies from ‘naturalistic’ landscapes to formal analyses and deconstructions of domestic life.

After a long break from painting, due to moving the studio around, and other work commitments, I have started to work again. Shaking off the rustyness, the paint is starting to flow again; but ambition and actual skill reveal their differences sometimes – practice, practice…

A new series of paintings. A new year, an unknown quantity. The possible directions are waiting to be discovered. Will a vague boredom with the painting process be overcome by results and graft? As ever, the secret desire to create new imagery prevails. What will influence and inspire me? Will it be multi-threaded diversity or tunnel-vision? Are thoughts and ideas greater than the actual object? Questions which may be answered. New questions may arise within the very work…
